SEO Website Layouts
At Pixelply we design and build our sites so that they are search engine friendly or search engine optimized (SEO). The search engines read, index and rank websites from the data that they gather from them with robots or “spiders”. Keeping that in mind, you want the robots to be able to go through the site and gather the right information so your site will be indexed in the search engine the way you want it to be. When a site has a bad SEO layout, many times the robots will get to major parts of the site, have trouble reading it and just skip over it. When search engine robots skip parts of the website, which means the information will not be registered and that part of the website will not add to the rank or be indexed right.
With .xml site maps, we can give the search engines a map or a plan to read. They will read site map and this will gives them directions to follow to the parts of the site that we want them to read and register. At Pixelply, we have tested several different site map generators and found that most of them generate poor code that will not validate many times, which means the robots will not read it or will not read major parts of it. Most companies use these site map generators, but we are not interested in any site maps that will not validate or be read properly. All of our site maps are hand coded and get 100% validated with Google before they are used. A good validated .xml site map will give the search engine robots a clear path to your web pages.
Once the robots get to your web pages, you want them to be able to go through and index the information that the pages contain. Robots read pure code, no images or decorations, just code. At Pixelply, our website pages are laid out so the code is valid and organized for the robots to read and index. The meta tags are filled in and, most important, the content is all in valid div tags so the robots can run through it with ease. Some div tags and property tags hold more weight and rank higher with search engines. We can work with you and get these tags filled in with the key words you want to have the most weight and that you want to show up in searches that your customers and clients are likely to use.
There are several myths in SEO about secret tricks to rank well. Almost all of them are just that; myths. Google and the leading search engines have guidelines that they use to rank sites. They have adjusted their ranking system to avoid and penalize tricks and manipulations. Many SEO tactics can do a lot more harm than good. Many people have hired unscrupulous SEO companies and found themselves banned from Google for years.
At Pixelply, we follow all of the top search engine guidelines so our sites will not be harmed by getting caught trying to scam or “game” the search engines. The search engines are designed to rank high quality sites that people want to read and find. That is what we are interested in making. We have no interest in making junky sites and then trying to fool indexes into thinking that they are quality. That effort and energy is better spent making your site better, higher quality, and more attractive to readers. This will pay off with rankings that last for a long time and readers that will inquire and buy your services or products.
Many times a website is a business investment and can give you return money. After you are indexed well, your site is an advertisement and a doorway for customers and clients to find your business and contact you. When you invest in a newspaper ad for a week, next week it is over, and the week after it is forgotten. When you invest in website SEO, your investment will last years as your site gets indexed, ranked and keeps showing up in search results.
