Important things to consider when creating a logo
Your logo and graphics are usual the first thing people see related to your business, and they make the first impression of you and your company in the minds of potential customers. Many times this is the only chance you get to make or lose a customer. When people choose a service, they usually have dozens to choose from and will make their decisions in split seconds with the click of a mouse or move to the next listing in the phone book.
A logo attached to your business is a label that tells people that a company is behind this product or service. A large percentage of people buy things because of the company logo that is attached to that product. Our society is so fascinated by logos that some people will simply buy the logo, like all the tee shirts that are sold with a big company logo on the front. The shirt may be twice as much as a blank shirt of the same quality, but people will pay double just to have and wear the logo. The logo, in the mind of the consumer, implies quality.
A logo is usually just a small basic image, but to create a good logo, there are many factors involved. Following are few to consider when making plans to create your company’s branding and logo:
Usability
Where will your logo be used? Will you need to embroider it on shirts, paint it on doors or print it on menus?
How will your logo look on these mediums? Will the colors match, will it be geometrically suited (will a triangle look ok on a circle?)
How far will your logo be read and looked at from? Will people need to see your logo from a moving car or on a matchbook?
What will printing costs be? Elaborate designs can be very expensive and sometimes impossible to embroider, each color can cost extra depending on the printing method.
Flexibility
Most company logos change over time. It is good to keep the same logo, but it is also good to grow and change as your company expands and grows. Most of the leading companies in the world have changed or modified their logos throughout their company’s duration. Coke, Pepsi Wal-Mart, etc. have all changed their logos from the original idea.
Years from now, you might have more experience in a field and want to change your advertising and promotional techniques or change you image to fit into certain trends or styles. Will you be able to change the logo and have it still be recognizable as your company?
This is just a brief overview of some of the more important aspect of creating a great and lasting logo.
